Build against an installed libmod-host-protocol: the mod-host fork gains make install-lib (0.10.7) #263
Description
BUILDING.md says the protocol library comes from pkg-config mod-host-protocol when mod-host's make install-lib installed it, otherwise from MOD_HOST_DIR; but FreeMixer/mod-host v0.10.6 has no install-lib target (install: install_man only), so every from-source install of the tier stops here: openmixer-ops' cloud-native-deps.sh apt path (2026-10-29) refuses at mod-host, and a cloud sandbox cannot build plugin-hostd without a mod-host checkout. FreeMixer/mod-host has issues disabled, so this is tracked here.
What lands, in FreeMixer/mod-host: make install-lib PREFIX=... DESTDIR=... installs libmod-host-protocol.so with its soname link, the headers plugin-hostd includes (socket.h and what it pulls), and mod-host-protocol.pc under $(PREFIX)/lib/pkgconfig so pkg-config --cflags --libs mod-host-protocol answers; make install keeps its meaning; the Audinux spec and the debian packaging use the same target; then a 0.10.7 release PR (patch inside the wave). Proof: a plugin-hostd v0.14.0 checkout builds with the installed library and no MOD_HOST_DIR. In plugin-hostd: BUILDING.md names 0.10.7 as the floor for the pkg-config path.

FreeMixer/mod-host#1 (the install-lib check) merged and 0.10.7 is tagged; what remains is BUILDING.md here naming 0.10.7 as the floor for the pkg-config path.

Mostly done: FreeMixer/mod-host has
install-lib(Makefile) and a consumer check through pkg-config, and v0.10.7 and v0.10.8 are released. Remaining: BUILDING.md here (line 7) still does not name 0.10.7 as the floor for the pkg-config path, and the proof (a plugin-hostd checkout building against the installed library with no MOD_HOST_DIR) is not recorded.Merge pull request #319 from FreeMixer/fix/263-building-floor

BUILDING.md now names mod-host 0.10.7 as the floor for the pkg-config path (#319, merged as 5f0da0e). The rest was already in place: make install-lib is in FreeMixer/mod-host v0.10.7 and absent from v0.10.6. Checked: v0.10.7
make install-lib PREFIX=...makespkg-config --cflags --libs mod-host-protocolanswer, and plugin-hostd main builds its daemon against that install with MOD_HOST_DIR unset.
