fix(ports): read a pid's command line on Windows, so a crashed daemon's children are reaped - #1078
The agent-device supervisor and the adb server supervisor read a recorded pid's command line with ps before reaping it. Windows has no ps, so after a crash the old agent-device daemons keep running beside the new ones, and the adb server record is never reaped. Nothing wrong is ever signalled.
ProcessSupervisor gains commandLine(pid). On POSIX it runs ps -ww -o args=. On Windows it reads Win32_Process.CommandLine through PowerShell, as UTF-8, split into the shape ps prints. A failed or empty read is "unknown", never "other". The platform is injected in the composition roots, and both reap paths use the port with unchanged matching rules.
Verified: tests for each platform's read and for both callers. A Windows-only test reads back a real child's command line (a quoted argument, a non-ASCII one). Daemon tests check that no command line is read where no supervisor runs.
…'s children are reaped
Both reap paths read a recorded pid's arguments with `ps`, which Windows
lacks, so after a crash the old agent-device daemons kept running beside
the new ones and the adb server record was never reaped.
ProcessSupervisor.commandLine now answers them on every platform: `ps` on
POSIX, Win32_Process through PowerShell (UTF-8, unquoted as the C runtime
splits it) on Windows, 5 s, unreadable is undefined. The composition
roots inject the platform. The adb matcher also accepts a backslash
before `adb`.

ProcessSupervisor now provides asynchronous command-line lookup using ps on non-Windows platforms and PowerShell on Windows. Agent-device and adb server identity checks use this lookup. Daemon and updater setup pass the platform and process runner to NodeProcessSupervisor. Tests cover output normalization, unreadable command lines, and process identity checks.

Priority: Normal
Merge Risk: Low · up to 097c8
Agent-device identity lookups no longer have an outer deadline. In the rare case where the lookup process cannot be killed, supervisor startup can stall instead of keeping the record as unknown. Add a deadline around the lookup before merging, or accept the narrow risk.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 097c8
The identity checks continue to avoid signalling processes they cannot identify. One local failure-containment regression remains: a stalled identity lookup can now delay or block supervised-process startup and shutdown beyond the previous deadline.
Retained concerns
Low · reliability · inferred: Moving agent-device identity lookup behind ProcessSupervisor removes the caller-owned five-second deadline. The runner timeout sends termination signals but still awaits process completion. A lookup that ignores termination therefore delays reaping through the escalation grace; one that never exits can leave startup and stop waiting indefinitely. The previous implementation returned unknown independently of child cleanup.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The sensitive outcome is signalling an individual recorded PID with the daemon account's existing permissions. Identity matching is therefore important even for unrelated processes that account can signal; this PR does not introduce an elevation mechanism.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — An unreadable command line remains unknown rather than evidence of ownership or another process. Unknown suppresses the associated signal in both consumers. Agent-device retains its record on either unknown identity decision; adb retains it on the first unknown decision, but its preexisting post-SIGTERM path still forgets the record after a later inconclusive check.
observed — The PowerShell expression interpolates only a validated integer PID; it does not interpolate the returned command line or a filesystem path. The process runner passes the command and argument array directly to child-process spawning without enabling a shell.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — Identity verification and signalling remain separate operations. Re-identification protects escalation but does not make the initial check-to-SIGTERM window atomic. That limitation predates this PR and is not treated as an introduced vulnerability.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Separate the identity-decision deadline from subprocess termination cleanup, returning unknown when that deadline expires while ensuring cleanup continues. This would restore bounded lifecycle progress without authorizing a signal on uncertain identity.

…supervisor runs
Command-line reads go through ProcessSupervisor.commandLine now, which the
runner never sees, so an empty runner.calls proved nothing about "no ps".
The three tests now answer pid 900 as this home's own daemon and assert
no command-line read and no signal, as their titles say.

Keep a deadline on the command-line lookup.
The old #psLine bounded the lookup with Promise.race against PS_TIMEOUT_MS, so it returned unknown after 5 seconds even if the child never exited. commandLine passes COMMAND_LINE_TIMEOUT_MS only to processRunner.run. NodeProcessRunner.run then returns await process.wait(), and its SIGKILL timer does not change what that promise waits for. If the lookup child survives SIGKILL, wait() does not settle, so commandLine and #identify do not return. start() awaits the reap path that calls #identify, so supervisor start can stall. This case needs a child that survives SIGKILL, so it is rare. Wrap the lookup in a deadline that resolves to undefined on timeout, so the caller keeps the record as unknown.
