Description
Part of #89.
Owner: Anders (@andersalm).
Depends on UP-01 (#107) through UP-06 (#112).
Models are published separately (#236), so LA-08 (#102) is not a blocker; model survival here covers models the user already downloaded.
Done means
Release acceptance: Each exposed feature works clearly from start to end, including recovery. Keep unfinished or confusing features hidden until their complete journey passes. Hiding a feature does not complete its task; source checks alone do not establish installed acceptance.
- Each target passes a real signed hop, rejection cases, interrupted update, restart and supported Undo: the alpha.6 first hop through
elastos updatein Terminal or install.sh (alpha.6's System refuses changed support, comment 6021378752); System update from alpha.7 with changed support; refusal, interruption, restart and Undo; user data kept, including data written after the update. (Decision, Anders 8 Oct: Linux and Jetson real interrupted updates plus the interrupted-activation tests, PR update: close the six acceptance gaps on #108, #109, #110, #112 (tests, two fixes, Undo docs) #269, stand for Mac; Mac passed System update, restart and Undo. Evidence: UP-07: Accept updates on Mac, Linux and Jetson #113 (comment), UP-07: Accept updates on Mac, Linux and Jetson #113 (comment), UP-07: Accept updates on Mac, Linux and Jetson #113 (comment)) - Identity, chats, drafts, Library files and settings survive, including the supported legacy first hop. Model bytes, Keep and selection through Runtime updates are owned by LA-08: Preserve model state through catalogue and Runtime updates #102 (models are not part of signed releases, release: take the four AI models out of the release #236/Remove model release preparation and the unused catalogue pin #242). (evidence: Linux user data byte-identical through Undo and update UP-07: Accept updates on Mac, Linux and Jetson #113 (comment); Mac Chat kept through Undo UP-07: Accept updates on Mac, Linux and Jetson #113 (comment); alpha.6 first hop G1 Install and update: Signed update #89 (comment))
- Built, installed and running artifacts match the candidate receipts. (evidence: UP-07: Accept updates on Mac, Linux and Jetson #113 (comment))
- Human acceptance passes through System. (Marketplace's view of the same update moved to UP-05: Show the same update in Marketplace #111 on 5 October.) (evidence: UP-07: Accept updates on Mac, Linux and Jetson #113 (comment))
- Immediately after stable publication, the Jetson on the last alpha has an available 0.8.0 update. With networking off, System shows a plain failure and Home stays on that alpha; with networking on, that same update succeeds. This is the remaining check; online Mac, Linux and Jetson runs already pass. Anders approved the target and order.
Remaining work for 0.8.0: #89 Remaining for 0.8.0.

@SashaMIT 0.8.0-alpha.7 is live (Mac-only preview). On alpha.6, run
elastos updatein Terminal once (alpha.6's System cannot install it). Then please do your two update runs, the Wi-Fi-off run and one fresh install with install.sh, and post the results here. alpha.8 (System update from alpha.7, plus Linux and Jetson) follows tomorrow.andersalm commentedon Oct 7, 2026
@SashaMIT alpha.8 is live (first release for Linux x86-64 and Jetson). Please: 1) update your alpha.7 Home from System and open Chat; 2) before updating, run
elastos source showand keep the Head CID, then tryelastos update --rollback-to <that CID>; 3) one fresh install with install.sh on Linux; 4) one update with Wi-Fi off, then on. Report each result here.andersalm commentedon Oct 7, 2026
Mac human run through System passed on alpha.8 (Anders, 7 Oct; #89 comment above). Linux x86-64 and Jetson fresh installs passed (#89 comment 6040804076). Still open here: Undo, interrupted update, Linux/Jetson System hops, Sasha's runs.

alpha.11→12 System update from the Home page: PASS (passkey + Chat message after).
Wi-Fi off:
elastos updatefails cleanly in 26 s, Home stays on alpha.11. Wi-Fi back on: update completes to alpha.12; identity, model catalogue and permissions intact. The alpha.9→11 findings are in my earlier comment.

Thanks Sasha, confirmed. Cause: alpha.11/12 updaters never write model-catalog.json, and Homes from alpha.10 or older have none, so a release that adds or changes the model-list pin is refused (System restores safely). alpha.13 is held: it ships with the alpha.11 pin plus an updater and startup fix that fetch the pinned list by CID; Qwen's new list follows in alpha.14. The mixed-component Undo and older-release installs are in the same fix.
Merge pull request #327 from Elacity/train/alpha13-fix

0.8.0-alpha.13 published (source 37e58ea, PR #327; release QmdSkFXFajBtcQykdRsUnGAWvsEfHjZKCbyngDBXVzn5Cv, head QmehuMWttXxnj9aGryizep2yBKeTzktCAWtzFnAzANxL4h): repairs a missing model list and mixed components at Home start, Update and Undo; keeps alpha.11's model list so 11/12 System updates work. Homes on alpha.10 or older: update once from Terminal (their System page refuses safely). Package provenance checked by hand before signing (#311).

Real Linux runs on published alpha.13 (9 Oct): fresh 13, Get SmolLM2 + reply; Undo 13->12 (model ready); 12->13 with 12's own Terminal updater (model ready, reply). Second Home: Undo 13->10, 10->13 with 10's own updater, model list repaired at start (owner-only, correct signed bytes); Undo 13->12, update 12->13. All passed. Qwen's list follows in alpha.14.

Homes on alpha.10 or older: their System page cannot install alpha.13 (no model-list support) and loops on 'could not start' with the current release kept. Tested from alpha.8 on Linux: re-running install.sh over the existing install reaches alpha.13 with identity kept and the model list in place; Terminal
elastos updatealso works. alpha.14's notes now show this in System.docs: alpha.14 notes: show the installer re-run for Homes on alpha.12…

New Mac finding (Anders, 9 Oct): install.sh re-run over alpha.8 installed alpha.13, then setup stopped: 'media-provider private config is missing or unsafe: supplied media tools differ from the private imported pair'. Setup refuses the new signed media tools (rebuilt reproducibly in alpha.9) when an older private copy exists (protected_content_runtime.rs prepare_runtime_media_provider_prerequisite). Affects Macs that set up before alpha.9. Fix in progress (re-import the verified pair, keep tuned limits) for the next release; workaround: move protected-content/media-provider aside and run elastos setup.

alpha.15 (12 Oct): fresh install passes on Mac, Linux x86-64 and Linux ARM (#88 comment 6132233640).
Update from alpha.14 passes on Linux x86-64 and is refused on Mac and ARM; re-running the install command keeps data (#89 comment 6131014410).
Mac update runs move to alpha.15 → alpha.16.

0.8.0-alpha.17, Jetson aarch64 (test HOME elastos-hop-jetson), source 37df2f6: update 16→17 176 s, Undo 17→16 (--rollback-to QmUjc6yr…) 124 s, update 16→17 again 123 s; each exit 0,
--versionand receipts match, Home (gateway on a free port) answered /home/ 200 in 22.8 / 21.9 / 22.9 s.First update attempt was cut by my own broken pipe mid-support install (binary 17, receipts 16); the next
elastos updaterepaired 7 support items and completed (recovery works). Logs: hops/jetson--20261015T04/05*.log.Separate: Anders's rc-home System update 16→17 at 05:02Z failed "previous Home did not become ready; retain recovery journal" and left Home down on alpha.16 (ran concurrently with this Undo).

alpha.18 System update UI (755ad79, Codex round 1 FAIL on two pre-existing points, accepted): (1) a lost answer to the update POST is retried with identical bytes; the owner action is idempotent (update_controller.rs:502-523 returns the existing queued receipt), so no second update. (2) A hidden tab polls every 30 s during the restart wait, so its reload can come later. Both for 0.8.1.
andersalm commentedon Oct 15, 2026
alpha.18 System reload, integration round 3 (ac7d018): one more edge case accepted for 0.8.1: after an earlier failed update, a new accepted update in the same page can miss the automatic reload if Home restarts between polls (system.js:3904 clears the seen-flag on any failure); it then shows the alpha.17 message "Home access has changed", so no regression. Stopped iterating after three review rounds on this goal.

Remaining for 0.8.0 (15 Oct 22:45 COT; final candidate alpha.21 = alpha.20 + automatic Community recovery; plan #93 6207232773): one Mac System update with Wi-Fi off on alpha.21 (plain failure, Home unchanged); online updates on Linux, Jetson and Mac passed on 15 Oct (#89).
andersalm commentedon Oct 16, 2026
Milestone sweep (16 Oct, alpha.22): no box changes. Online Mac System update passed again on alpha.21 → alpha.22 (Anders's Mac, #401 (comment)), and Linux x86-64/arm64 update, Undo and update again passed (#89 (comment)). Stays open for one thing: Anders's Mac System update with Wi-Fi off on alpha.22 (expect a plain failure and Home unchanged).

Wi-Fi-off run (Anders, 16 Oct): turning Wi-Fi off on the Mac also stops OMP, which runs on that Mac, so this run is done on the Jetson instead. On the Jetson (alpha.22, network off), System showed no error and no update button: alpha.22 is the newest release, so there was nothing to fail. The run needs an available update. Plan: right after 0.8.0 is published, on the Jetson (alpha.22) with the network off, the update to 0.8.0 must fail with a plain message and Home stays on alpha.22; with the network on, the same update succeeds. That run closes this box. Online update runs on alpha.22 already pass: #89 6223646211 (Linux x86, arm64) and 6223137130 (Mac, Jetson).
